Have you ever wanted to visit the Atlantic? Well, soon you will be able to.
In December 2010, Melbourne's Crown Casino will unveil the Atlantic to the public - in the form of a its new 300 hundred seat seafood restaurant.
Atlantic restaurant will be spearheaded by award winning entrepreneur Hatem Saleh, Con Andronis from Clamms Seafood, Tony Schiavello from Schiavello group and chef Donovan Cooke.
Comprised of a brasserie-style eatery in the Crown's Riverside restaurant precinct overlooking the Yarra River, the Atlantic will be the largest venue at Crown Casino.
When the doors open in December, patrons will walk into a contemporary, minimalistic influenced decor, created by Blackmilk Interior Design - the same designers of Peninsula Room and Sketch.
A large open kitchen will allow guests to see the chefs preparing their meals, will alcoves implemented into the design will allow for privacy.
Inspired by the ocean that gave it its name, Atlantic will feature an extensive oyster bar with more than a dozen oyster varieties available, while the restaurant will feature a wide range of seafood including wild and sustainable fish.
Expect to see items such as smoked John Dory with a truffle crust served with white asparagus and a Tasmanian truffle essence or for the more adventurous, carpaccio of Hamachi Kingfish with blood orange jelly and basil sorbet, chilled artichoke veloute with oysters and caviar, and Australian lobster en concotte.
The oyster bar menu will feature a variety of crustaceans and items such as dressed king crab with caviar remoulade and oyster six ways while rinks include an extensive menu featuring vintage French champagnes.
And as for who will be cooking for you? None other than world-renowned master chef, Donovan Cooke, who has appeared on Celebrity MasterChef Australia and has worked at the prestigious Happy Valley Clubhouse of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
"I am coming back to Australia to cook the best fish possible and to give people the best food I can possible cook," Cooke said. "It has been seven years since I have lived in Melbourne and I look forward to the next stage of my life and partnership in The Atlantic."
The Atlantic will be open from midday to midnight daily, while the Champagne and oyster bar will remain open until 2am.
