Which snacker are you?

Which snacker are you?

Ever found yourself reaching for a box of chocolate when feeling lonely, or a bottle of vodka after a bad break up?

Food has become one of the main things we resort to when feeling sad, happy, excited or depressed.

Our mood impacts the food we choose to eat. For example, hard crunchy foods such as crackers, toasted bread and cookies are associated with anger, anxiety, irritability or frustration. People eat them aggressively and the loud crunch sound and hard texture make them attractive to people in a bad state of mind.

Heavy and dense foods such as stews, deli sandwiches and peanut butter on wholegrain bread are often associated with procrastination, resting, inertia and a general lack of physical motivation.

Light and crispy foods such as raw vegetables, salads, raw fruits, chips and popcorn are often associated with a lack of self control or spontaneous emotional expression and also they are sometimes associated with freshness, fun and carefreeness.

A person who eats most of his food cold, out of the fridge is either consciously or unconsciously supporting an emotionally cold personality and is likely to suffer from digestive distress, compared to those who take time to prepare their meals warm, for easier digestion.

If you regularly eat bitter foods, you can develop a bitter edge to your character.

People who crave salty foods such as potato chips tend to be high achievers and perfectionists. They also tend to be successful in businesses and their family life but that doesn't mean you should over consume salt, unless you want health issues.

Beef jerky and biltong lovers tend to be the life of the party. They tend to be outgoing, social, and loyal.

Cheese lovers are generally conscientious and very proper and walk the moral high ground.

Dark chocolate lovers are extrovert, outgoing and the life of the party. Those who prefer chocolates with nuts tend to be more friendly and nurturing.

If you like your chocolate with a hint of mint, then you are a clever one who is opinionated. And of course there are milk chocolate lovers. They are compassionate, are thinkers and take their time to mull over everything before jumping into action.

Maybe you just like all kinds of chocolate. Regardless, to help keep it healthy opt for dark chocolate when you can. This provides healthful antioxidants and will satisfy any chocolate craving.

Even snacking can tell you about your personality.

A disorganised snacker often misses meals due to their work or home schedules, and snack when they need to. They may snack in the morning one day, then in the evening or even during the day. They are seen as absent minded and disorganised but the truth is, they have a lot going on and meals are not high on their agenda. They may be misunderstood as self involved and selfish, but don’t mistake their standoffish attitude - they are just very driven to complete the task at hand. They are ambitious and respected at work.

Emotional snackers are friendly and outgoing and love life. Their cravings are driven by their emotions and so their snack schedule depends on their mood. They crave foods that are too sweet or too fatty to help sooth their emotional crisis. These snackers want to feel appreciated and loved and can easily be stressed and feel fatigued.

Constant snackers tend to be easy going and experience little stress and rarely have mood swings. These snackers cope well with life and are full of energy.

However, like horoscopes, there is no concrete proof on such suggestions but in the case of food, it is a educated generalisation on people's eating habits and moods.

Which food or snacker are you?
