Here's a trivia question for you: on January 27, 2010, Australia came third behind Hungary and Germany for:
a) rowing competition
b) baking competition
c) a beer drinking competition?
The correct answer is b. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Though I should have, because we wrote about the baking team on All Eaten Up a few weeks back. (My editor wrote that in).
Anyways, back to the baking. After five months of hard training, countless eggs, flour and butter, Brett Noy, team captain and owner of Brisbane based Uncle Bob's Bakery, led the Australian Baking Team at the annual Sigep International Bread Cup, held in Italy.

The Aussies had to jump five hurdles: baking a traditional bread, baking an innovative bread, baking a cake, making an artistic bread and then create a final showcase display, to get to the finish line.
Their outback theme, which included the Etamogah Pub, an Aussie outhouse and a doghouse helped Australia win the final category, 'Final Showcase Display' and helped them come third overall.
Anyone else may have been disappointed with the third placing when they'd come second the year before, but not Noy. He said coming third was due to better competition at this years competition.
"The standard of entry this year was at least 50 per cent up on last year so we are really pleased with our result.
"I'm so proud of how well the boys have done this year. Placing third in the largest professional trade fair in the world is such a good effort," Noy said.
After the grueling four days of baking, the team was treated to dinner at the Australian Embassy with ambassador Amanda Vanstone.
When they get back from Italy, they'll start from scratch and start getting ready for next year's cup.
